What is the proper ft. lbs. of torque to tighten lug nuts?

It will vary but I believe the owners manual say around 62 lbs./ft. You just don't want to over tighten aluminum wheels.

I called the dealer and they told me 85 to 95 ft. lbs. I torqued them to 90 and after 2 miles the lug nuts were loose. Maybe the wrench is bad, cause 90 did not feel very tight.

the correct torque setting according to BMW for the e46 is 85Nm or 62.7lb/ft.

Its almost scary how many dealerships overtorque stuff cause they will see 20Nm as 20lb/ft or 80Nm as 80lbs/ft :tsk:
