Hey guys I’m new to this forum I have a 2004 e46 330ci and have been loving it since I’ve bought it ! But I need help with knowing what the front defroster leads to, my fiancé left her engagement ring on the dash and it fell through those little vents inside the cabin where the front defroster blows , it fell on the passenger side. One day I turned on the front defroster and heard it rattle so I know it’s still there , I’ve tried looking in the air filer under the hood but nothing, please help out
It'll be under the dash-
the ducts go sideways to the center console.
It's not terribly hard to take down the glove box, drop the fuse box,
remove the electronics rack, and then you can see it. Getting it OUT is harder,
as the ducting is way up in there, and BMW installs it into the dash first,
then lands the dash in the car.
Do unhook the battery first.
Maybe one of those little cameras would help find it,
and then you could fish it out.
Thank you ! That gives me some clear insight on what I would have to do ! I have a snake claw with a light so I’ll try and fish it out with that , I’ll keep an update of what happens !
A small hose on a vacuum, maybe? Also, I wonder if removing a side vent might give you access to the ducting for the defroster. Might check realoem.com to see all the different ducts.
Me? I think I'd consider two other options, too: new ring or new fiancee.
