Greetings. I have heard left and right that the N54 intake manifold would give a noticeable increase performance. A friend of mine is planning on doing it in the near future on a car with M54B30 of a friend/customer. When I search for this there is very little info out there.

Is there anyone who has done this, and what is the actual performance increase? Is it worth it?

The only mod I've seen is the M50 intake mod and it's been tested reliable for the most part. There's even kits you can buy online if you don't feel like tinkering with it yourself.

You probably could fit an n54 intake on it if the bolt patterns are the same. Are they? I'm going to have to go look now being I have cars with each of those motors.

I know one thing for certain about the n54 intake.... it's so easy to remove. I can take mine off in about 5 minutes.

I assume the bolt pattern is the same as people have done this, but I can't find any reviews of how it performs or any dyno sheets.

A few people have managed to plastic-weld injector ports onto an N54 manifold but there isn't good documentation anywhere.

Another option is an aftermarket N54 manifold with port injection. They can be had for pretty cheap but not sure of the potential performance gains on an M54 since they're made for boost + meth injection.

I was thinking about if the N54 manifold was worth it, but spending lots of €€ on the intake, only to spend some more €€ on adapters (as I forgot N54 was direct injection. I kinda stopped following BMW since the E46), so you can spend another €€ on a tune, to gain a few hp...
I think I'm gonna go another route :p

RACEMODE from Poland makes the adapter plates, I am not too confident in the gains they claim. A lot of their stuff seems a little fishy to me. Although I have a customer that has installed/is installing this kit on his MS45.1 330.
If successful, I’ll be posting some info on my Instagram (@chaoscalibrations) and my Facebook (Chaos Calibrations).
