well my stock shifter feels wierd. it could be just me tho

btw and also today i foudn out, after i got my inspection done, that my clutch. makes a little winny noise, when i press it or press it have way. and the car roll a little bit.

anyway, I'm pretty sure my shifter does about the same thing. IMO the 3 series shift action and clutch is one of the worst I've ever driven. Getting a SSK I'm sure would solve your problem. Or just live with it, as I have chose to do.

How many miles are on your car? I've got just over 60k, and my shifter is sloppy as hell. I'm thinking of either a SSK or replacing some of the components. Rogue Engineering's site has a diagram of what to replace for sloppy shifters.

The shifter can be fixed with a good SSK. There are some good kits out there from UUC, Rogue and the like that make a WORLD of difference. I'd like to pick one up myself, but my priorities are a bit different right now. I need a better suspension first.

That aside, the clutch pedal is what annoys me. The travel is too long for a sport oriented car, and grabs too high because of it. Worse, the feel changes over time, and then back again, for no discernable reason. Plus, the clutch will delay engagement sometimes...making a fast, precise 1-2 or 2-3 shift nearly impossible (and forget chirping into 2nd...I can't do it because my clutch seems to take an hour to engage). Is there any known fix for this?

I can chirp on 2nd easily on my 323. it wont chirp if u drop a the clucth but it will if clutch is half enaged around 3500rpm then u drop it.

Get a clutch stop (or make your own) It makes a HUGE difference in engagement. I can chirp 1st to 2nd (if I turn off DSC) anytime I want. I even chirped in 3rd once (full throttle shift with no lift). It can't be good on the clutch, but it's FUN
