OP its your car and looks pretty good, do what you want with it and don't let anyone here tell you otherwise.
How can you tell him it looks good? There is nothing about the way that car looks that is good. The wheels are horrible, the interior has been spray painted red along with under the hood, and the car is screaming for some maintenance. We are here to help and there is no way that anyone over the age of 30 can look at that car and say it looks good, and you all know what's gonna happen here, in the next couple weeks or couple months or whatever the OP will have a new thread up that says he has a major mechanical problem and he won't have any cash left over to take care of it. When our cars are neglected and they break its not like the repair bill will be a couple hundred dollars, it will be thousands. So I don't say all this to be mean, but obviously someone has to try to point him in the right direction because you guys know where this is going.

Who the **** is Polly?

If you're going to **** all over somebody for their aesthetic tastes, at least use real words.

@OP: to each his own with respect to cosmetic mods. Here's what I know for sure: It doesn't matter how you "ruin" your car because you'll probably love it so much you won't ever sell it. And if you do it'll be so old with such high mileage that it won't be worth anything anyway. So you've just lowered your resale from $100 to $50. How dare you!!! lol

We all have to go on our own journey from garish modding to tasteful modding. We're all on our own path.

The one thing i WOULD say is do the maintenance first. Everything in Mango's sig. I bought Betsy a year ago and I'm just now almost finished, with almost $3K into her. I paid $3.3K for the whole car lol.

Congrats on a great purchase, doing a lot of good work and some controversial work, and being a part of a great community. We're glad you're here taking this journey with the rest of us.

Why do people block out their license plate number? I mean, dont hundreds see it on your car every single day?
Why NOT protect personally identifiable information? There are some disturbed people out there. You can't legally hide your plates in real life. Some would if you could.

Its not legally identifiable. :hmm:

There sure are, but I question how many people have had bad things happen to them, by their license plate.

Sort of my point. You block it out here on an internet forum where, what, maybe 100 people look at it, yet if you drive for 30 minutes in a populated area, 300-1000 people can see it.

I actually dont really know why i block out the plate number i know people see it on the road but i just think posting it on the internet can be dangerous.

And if you all knew me youd know i have an ocd for anything on the car breaking, the picture with the lights on werent major problems first of all and they were fixed the first week. I also do have the money to fix anything that breaks but i just dont see why i should replace the while cooling system when its running fine. When i see signs of something breaking, i replace it. Like this weekend im replacing the disa ccv power steering filter and i will be checking the cooling system.

Thanks for all the comments! I guess everything i do makes my bmw unique, i love it, my family loves it, and so do my friends so that all that counts right?

Who are you to judge? You have had nothing but bad things to say. Its his car...he can do what he wants to it. Ever heard of "To each their own"?
Public forum means that people are going to get differing opinions. I simply have nothing good to say about this car. I'm sorry if you don't like my opinion but I don't like the fact that I have to drive around and see these horrible looking cars on the road. So I guess we don't always get want we want do we.

Just wrote a massive comment and deleted it by accident! Never mind...

in less words... loose the m stuff, paint/wrap your silver trim black, get your old wheels back or get some bmw sports, de-amber your indicators. Love the head unit, front bumper and tints (would have went for a little less tint myself though).

Put all/any mechanical work first!!! Bear in mind service, MOT, TAX, tyres, brakes, etc..

I like your enthusiasm, but don't ruin it! If it ain't broke don't fix it, they are very good looking cars as standard, some minor mods and your all good!

I don't think we're being hard on OP specifically; moreso on teenage kids who buy an $8k Bimmer with their last dollar, and then proceed to neglect maintenance while turning it into a car only two people in the world would love: the owner and his mother (who wouldn't be caught dead in it).

mjpgolf1 has a valid point. You can spend $8k on a car, keep it for three years, keep it stock and well maintained (spending $3k), and sell it for $4k. You pay $7k over 3 years for the experience of driving the Ultimate Driving Machine ($2.33k/year +gas & insurance). Or, you can spend $8k on the same car, spend $3k on mods that no one else will pay for, and sell it for $1k (or less). You pay $10k over three years, or $3.33k/yr. This is assuming that your BMW will last three years with no maintenance. It won't.

I dont think your understanding. First of all my parents love my car. And even if they didnt do you think id care? And for mantinence, sorry i dont replace parts that arent broken. Heres a list of what ive done and lets see if you approve

Vcg, ofhg, oil change every4k, tranny pan(it was bent) tranny fluid, filter, and gasket replaced, new waterpump, new expansion tank, new fuel pump, new fuel filter, new spark plugs, front shocks, all new rotors and pads, brand new tires(which is why im not getting new rims yet), coolent flush,

Sorry i dont wanna spend 1k on replacing the whole cooling system when i dont need to.
And for you saying i spent my last doller on the car i have almost 5k left which i am planning to save for anything else i wanna do to it and then college.

Land vehicle Vehicle Car Speedometer Auto part

No lights either, and im sure my car wont sell for 1k and if it does, it is what it is, i enjoyed the ride and i enjoy how i made it so even if it sells for a penny i really dont care, thats life my friend, every car devalues, even yours.

First, it shouldn't matter to you whether or not I (or anybody else) approves of what you do, or have done. I throw these things out for people to think about, argue, and discuss. Everyone should arrive at what's best for them. (That being said, you change your oil too often, and you really should replace your pulleys and fan - grenades waiting to explode.) LOL

Second, you seem to think things through (except for the cost of a college education, hopefully you're getting help through scholorships, friends, and family). You're okay, but if you wear plaid pants with a plaid shirt, I'm going to give you a little crap. That's just me.

Third, yeah, all cars depreciate to a point, but find a nice E30 with less than 100k, in good condition, and see how much it cost. It's most likely worth twice as much as it was seven years ago. I only say this because I once bought a 1968 Camaro for $800, and sold it for $800. How much would that car be worth now, if I'd kept it? On the other hand, if you're going to drive it 200,000 miles, you don't really have to worry about resale. A 1968 Camaro with 200,000 miles is going to take a hit, no matter how well it's restored.

Again, not so much pointed at you, just using your thread as a springboard to make people think about what they are doing. If you think long and hard about doing something everyone thinks is stupid, and do it anyway, it's not stupid. It may be crazy, but not stupid. How much crap do you think Christopher Columbus got for his idea to sail West?
