I like my Bimmer for spirited driving. I also don't like driving pickup trucks a whole lot. So rather than using a pickup for hauling stuff, so I built myself a teardrop trailer for family camping trips and taking my streamlined human powered vehicle to the races.

If you think it is sacrilegious to tow with an E-46, don't do it. The Bimmer, with it's great handling, powerful engine, and DSC seems to deal with a small trailer with finesse. The trailer has brakes as well to help maintain an excellent stopping distance. I also used automotive suspension complete with shock absorbers so that it can have a smooth ride. Other trailers I have owned bounce out of control our local rough roads.

BusaNoob, It's all relative. My previous car was a Volvo 240. You are correct. BMW certainly has a lot more to offer in the power dept.

What are you even talking about? I don't like the look of a trailer hooked to a BMW, so now I'm in high school and can't graduate? That makes no sense. If you are going to make fun of me, at least do it properly, dumb ass. If you can't handle the fact that some people aren't going to appreciate the look of a freaking trailer behind what most of us consider one of the best cars around, then you probably shouldn't post pictures of it for the world to see.

+1 using the e46 for a practical reason is stupid, slam it and add a bunch of body mods to fit in here! Looks are everything!

...and cue dumb ass number two. You know, for someone with 11 THOUSAND posts, I'd think you'd know a little more about passenger cars.

The e46 has no frame, just a uni-body, meaning it was not designed to tow ANYTHING. Not to mention the gear ratio is all wrong for towing, and the clutch is going to burn out from the extra weight. God help him if he has an automatic... That's why I'm laughing. He has no idea how bad that is for his car. I bet he's even wondering why nobody has done this before. Wow, you guys are retarded.

And since you brought it up, here is a picture of my car. Why don't you count all my "body mods" and let me know how many you find.

It works fine. Have to careful with the clutch during low speed maneuvering. Otherwise I'm very happy with it. The hitch mount spreads the stress out well. I wouldn't haul anything over 1,500 pounds. Why do you have to be so negative? As I stated in my first post, if you think it's a bad idea, don't do it. I can understand that some people would not want to install a hitch and tow with their baby. That's OK too.

Because you made a childish comment about me not being able to graduate from high school. You forget or what?
