Hey guys! So after the tragic loss of my last BMW, I have bought Mia. Mia has been a great car. I bought her on June 24th for under $5k. She is a two owner Steel Grey 330Ci. I bought her with just under 97k miles and we just crossed 100k over the weekend. Please feel free to weigh in on my list.

Things I moved over:
- 30mm front sway bar
- calipers, rotors, pads (PFC-Z)
- M3 Steering wheel
- M3 seats
- Black center console
- Aux supported radio and asssociated bluetooth
- Electric Fan conversion
- LED Tail lights
- LCM supporting 3-touch blink and BFD
- M3 motor mounts
- Z4M control arm bushings
- Indy 500 tires (was on 700TW tires)

Mods / maintenance I've since done:
- Mini D2S 4.0 bi-xenon projectors
- Removed the walmart alarm
- attempted header install and in return has exhaust leak (need to tighten them!)
- Brake flush
- Thermostat, upper rad hose, 1.4 bar coolant cap, water pump, expansion tank (I'm covered!)

Mods literally sitting waiting for a purpose:
- My old muffler in my trunk
- My Beisan VANOS upgrade with 1k miles on it
- M50 manifold... I may sell this
- UUC 24mm rear sway bar
- a bunch of headliner fabric
- a surprise in the interior trim department
- CAS keyless entry from E90...
- Spare DME
- Tie rods

Things I need to address:
- Fix stock suspension, although it's pretty tight. I'm in talks...
- Address the oil pump nut issue....This is the big one on my mind
- Manual swap
- Subframe reinforcement - the other big one
- Get transmission bushings since they sheared in half on Sophia
- Diff bushings are shot to hell
- Decide what I'm going to do for RTAB's

Awesome! Glad to see this thread!

I love how the 330 brakes have such a presence behind the wheels. Also, is it true that the aftermarket upgraded swaybars cause the swaybar mounts to tear out of the car (The metal mounting points)? I read that somewhere and was just wondering if it was true.

Looking forward to updates! Car looks great so far!

I think that depends on the bar. The bigger bars I could see it happening way more.

So glad to see this thread! Will be following with interest.

Time to update the sig pic? ;)

I think we all thought you had forced induction in the works (especially with the M50 manifold purchase). Is that on hold or was it never in the cards?

The way the Style 68s frame the brakes (esp. the rears) is one of my favorite E46 features.

I think it also depends on how soft your shocks/springs are. That determines a lot of how much of that stress is transferred to the sway bar. It certainly felt like the chassis worked less on Laguna (well paved) vs where I ripped it off.

I'm having custom plates made

I picked it up with the B30 in mind. I don't "believe" in forced induction personally. I just love N/A too much, S54, S65, S85 all the key to my heart.

I agree with the 68's! I can't hold two pairs of wheels while at university at the moment, but they will have to go soon ***55357;***56852;

edit: will update sig when I find the time!

Check my build thread for Sophia. Synopsis is she is dead.

Thought I'd give a little update. I've since rebuilt the most of the cooling system and did my VANOS seals. VANOS didn't give as big of an update as on the M52, but damn I miss that motor. I live in constant fear that I'll blow the motor and it really impairs my enjoyment for the car. Good news is I did 700 miles in one day without a single hiccup, driving from "SF" to LA to LAX and back to my new home. Not so much of a hiccup, great report. I am now at 101k.

I have since moved to Los Angeles. To be straight, you guys are basically my family - I'm having an awful time, and I miss home. This is not home to me, and it's hot as hell. I luckily did find the time to install my 24mm rear sway bar, it's at full soft. Car is far more neutral and more willing to get the butt out, but still a tad understeery, may stiffen up the rear a bit or swap the 7.5's to the rear like previously. I'd like the extra footprint up front for braking and turn in anyway.

Why are you worried you'll blow the M54 vs. the M52? They're 95% the same engine... A little extra displacement, E-throttle, etc.

Sorry you're having such a rough time of it! :( Why did you move? I hope you start to make some connections in LA.

And update that sig pic! ;)

Hey everyone, sorry for not replying. The subscriptions on my side are totally messed up and I had to resubscribe to my own thread, my apologies.

Have you heard of the oil pump nut with high revs? I'm always short shifting at 6k after talking with Rob. I have to get an upgraded oil pump. I moved because I transferred to a UC :). I am having my doubts, either wishing I tried harder at the JC or wishing I went to one of my other options, like chico (which was evacuated) or Santa Cruz. It's still been rough, but I have a bit of a community and friends I trust out here now. Baby steps, but moving in the right direction :).

I WANT TO UPDATE THE SIG MAN, just gotta take a good photo ***128532;. I have a few minutes here between classes, let me see what I can do ;)

The weather is nice here. You'll get used to it lol We'll hold some meets, whenever I get my car back.
Honestly man, I'd love that. I love your build. I still have your short shifter for a completely secret project I will be doing to this car

My understanding is that the B30 oil nut is only really a concern if the engine sees extended periods of high revs, like with track use. No need to upgrade the pump; just safety-wire the nut. That's what I plan to do if/when I have to drop the oil pan.

I was about to be like "Just use one of the phenomenal photos at the beginning of your build thread!" but I see that you've just done that. Looks great!

I've been hanging out with the folks on the thread dedicated to this issue and it people have had the nut sheer in half. It's not just an issue of it coming loose, and we've all seen the abuse my cars get so I have to be more cautious. My car has spent probably 6 seconds at redline since I've moved here, so I'm pretty proud of that.
