I heard matte aftermarket e46 kidney grills don't fit properly?
What is my best bet?
Im looking to replace my oem chrome ones

I bought mine from bimmian.com Also have a prefacelift. They fit perfect! However, I've had bad experiences with bimmian with other parts that I've ordered. I'm not a fan. You can get them from khoalty.com as well. They have a great price on them and they should fit perfectly fine.

or, take your oem ones, spray them black like i did.

Khoalty.com - perfect fit for me. Although, I bought piano black, not matte black (nor matte chrome, as you mentioned in the thread title :lmao, but I think it's the same exact product, just different finish.
