I have been searching this for awhile, but all I've found are pictures of it done already and not how its been done. I really didnt want to make a thread for this, but I gave up on the search. I want to put a manual shift boot on a auto and I was wondering if anyone has seen a DIY on this. Thanks :)

It's easy.
1. Remove the shift knob.
2. Remove the plastic "auto trim".
3. Snap boot into place.
4. Install shift knob.

And you're done.

Doesn't something need to be done with the wiring that runs through the shift plate? It was a simple swap on the non-steptronic E46 auto I had before, but I remember messing with it on a step and finding that all steptronic functionality is disabled if those wiring harnesses are disconnected.

You don't have to do anything special. It fits right on. There's a little light that plugs into your little gear selection plate, but you can just tuck that off to the side.

Here's a picture of my interior

I got one also....was very easy. I did it when I put the carbon fiber shift knob on.
