Hey I’m new here but I was wondering what would be a good camshaft upgrade for my m54b25 would be. I’ve been doing some research and I seen somebody replace the intake cam with a 3.0 cam. I’m wondering if this is a good option or if I should do something else?

I’ve been doing more and more research since I posted this and I can’t find any solid info, recommendations, or anything for an m54 cam upgrade

Its a lot of $ for what most say is little HP. But they will 'wake up' the motor a little and give you some power across a range, but that range may be higher RPM than stock.
The B25 will need to really play at 5000+ rpm to take advantage

If you have headers/3.0 or M50 intake to go with the cams and take it for a dyno tuning session you can make the losses minimal

Options:
3.0 Intake cam - 240/9.7 vs 228/9.0 lift
ZHP cam - 244-248ish/9.7-10ish
Schrick sells multiple sets from 248-272
Cat Cams is also a supplier

The best performance upgrade for your E46 is an S54.

The best bang- for- the- buck upgrade for a 325 is an M54B30.

Otherwise, drive it like it is and love it.

You can get a B30 for roughly the cost of any 2 camshafts- hell, I got a complete 330 with a bad auto trans
for LESS than a pair of factory ZHP cams cost...

t
not camming these engines.

I’m with TB on this. B30 swap it for the easy gain.
