This is in regard to my 2001 E46 330xi it has cat less headers and I decided to do a m50 manifold swap. I am finishing up the swap now and everything seems to be mechanically fine and installation went well. I do have a tuned DME in the car that is for the M50 manifold swap. The car starts and idles but can't rev up and almost stalls when throttle pedal is pressed. The car is throwing code P1633 and is regard to "throttle position home unknown - limp mode".

I took not of the fact my throttle body is now mounted at a different angle than stock and is "side ways" because of the new throttle body adapter plate. I am suspicious that the throttle body must be at original angle in order for it to actuate properly and so its going into "limp mode". I am going to get a different adapter plate that places the throttle body at stock angle and all the other m50 manifold swaps I have seen on the internet are using a different adapter plate than I and it is at stock angle.

Does anyone have any other ideas as to what the problem is?

I am going to work on the car this evening, I do not believe I installed by fuel actuator vacuum line and I think that when I try and give the car throttle the throttle body is opening and the motor is getting no fuel and the car is "limping" the throttle body. I am going to connect the vacuum line and re set throttle adaptions and I will be sure to update!

So I plugged the actuator line into the intake and the car idles better but still not throttle. I flipped the throttle body more and still nothing (still not at stock angle). I am still getting p1663 and EML is still on. I am going to email the tuner of the DME I ordered and see if he has any ideas.

Search and PM "The Fixer".
He just did this recently.

So I have been trying and trying to get this car running right. The tuner told me that standard heater hose wasn't going to work for the iac so I ordered a silicone hose kit and it improved the cars idle but still no throttle response. I called the tuner on the phone and asked for advice. The tuner told me to start looking else where, it should be noted that my brake light, abs light, eml, and hazard lights are all on. I scanned all the modules of the car separately and when I scanned my abs it read "76 - Status DME Internal Error" and when I read the DME it read "73 - TPS-Adaption". When I try and rev the car I can hear the throttle body open and close, should I still check and see if it got damaged or went bad in some way? If anyone learns anything else or makes any progress, please let me know.

Can you post a link about how to do so?

Just be careful when if you are front probing (try to stick to back probing) the wires because I pushed one of the terminals in the connector back and it lost connection threw another code and I had to find a way to pick it back out.

I also found the problem for me it was that I wired my 330i throttle body backwards

Turns out that when I extended my throttle body connector wires I made a mistake and miss wired it, there is a brown wire with a white strip and another brown wire but with a grey stripe. After fixing my mistake I cleared the codes with my code reader and got throttle body response. The codes came back a few times but I cleared them and they haven't came back sense. I took the car on a 30 minute test drive as well as turned it on and off repeatedly without issue. For future readers of this thread I will leave you to a link to my YouTube channel where I have documented the m50 manifold swap as well as this issue youtube.com/limpmode . Thank you for the help!
