me and my bro are deciding on a car. he wants a 2000 740 but i talked him out of it and now weve decided to go with a 01 540i stick or a 99 m5. what do u guys think?? which one should i go for???

99 M5 for sure. E39 M5 is one of the finest cars out there. All you need to do is change the headlights to the angel eyes version.

I think that the m5's production began in 2000, not 99, so thats the earliest model. correct me if im wrong.

i would also say m5, it'll be maybe 5k more, but you would soon have gotused to the 540i acceleration and overall performance, and wished you had gotten the m.

My mom has a 2000 540i stick and I havn't driven an M5 but I'll tell you that you won't be disapointed with the performance. It's as fast as you could want and the handling is amazing. Her car has like 70k miles on it and still is running wonderfully. All that said I would probably get an M5.
