Can trim from a sport steering wheel be installed on an M3 steering wheel? See attached pic for the trim I'm talking about.

I dont believe so....the sport steering wheel has two spokes to it while the M3 wheel does not

No, unless it's modified to fit a 2 spoke trim, because I used to have that on my SSG M3 wheel but stuck with the 1 spoke matte chrome one.
