Getting a 2001 m3 with 100k on it, looks like I need to refresh it a bit. I was looking around, and I saw there's mostly a selection of 3 types people are using, ACL, WPC, VAC. I was wondering if you guys could give me a suggestion on which one you like best. Car is going to be driven daily, but I would like to go drive it up to the canyons and maybe do a few track days.

Also, should I do it myself or take it to the shop? I've done major work on cars myself, not much engine work. I am pretty comfortable in taking the car apart myself. I feel like I might be able to do it, but if its a $1200 or so, it might not be worth saving the extra $600, and just trust that someone has done it before.

I’m about to do the Bearings as well. Still shopping around and the VAC kit is looking very good to me. $475 for a kit bearings and bolts. You can probably save your bolts because your car is an early model.

ACL for $100 from Amazon. Mine are great. Another M3forum member sent me the link and I also ordered all new bolts and called it a day. This is a more advanced DIY but the resources are available. Nam3forum.com has a DIY from M3forum before it went down.

I had Matt Coyne replace my rod bearings and he was OK with ACL . Big savings over BMW. 8K miles later and no issues at all and about $400 richer
