dear fanatics,

need some help from those who did M3 mirror on 3er coupe mod.

body shop wanted to charge me about ~2hr of work
for putting in M3 mirrors. they warned that if I do
it myself , they won't work on it if I mess up.
they say that snapping on the glass is a little tricky.

1) I don't want to break anything, is this DIY dangerous.
any trick to putting the housing and the glass together?
any possible screw up I should avoid.

2) I got these parts , I have power seats.
are the parts correct? do I need any additional parts

mirror housing w/ memory function left 51-16-7-893-468
mirror housing w/ memory function right 51-16-7-893-597
mirror glass left 51-16-7-893-553
mirror glass right 51-16-7-893-558

3) I heard some people mentioned that the number of pins needs to be correct 12 or 6. I have a early 2001 325ci, do I have the right pins

thanks in advance!

I did mine one night...it took about 45 minutes...and its a very easy install...if you dont have power seats i think you have a 6 pin mirror.

Find another fanatic to help you out, where in cali do you live. Someone help the guy out, maybe he'll even buy you lunch.

It took me 30 mins to do the first one, and 15 to do the second one.

thanks tquach, I'm in castro valley;
I'll try it on my own first; unless you want lunch?;)

I also need to install my DDE lightnings, which I'm
more afraid of screwing up.

BTW, are those clear reflectors, where did you get them
and how are they (fit & quality)

I wouldn't mind helping you out, I have no idea where castro valley is.. I coul always talk you thorough it over the phone.

DDE's take a litte more time to install, so if you DIY don't rush it.

I got the clear relectors from Ebay, they fit just fine, quality is pretty good. For something that cheap i didn't mind getting them off ebay.

DDE Lightnings install is fairly easy too. Just follow the instructions Matt sent out with the DDE's and you should have no problems. Once you figure out how to get the lights off its easy.
