Just installed a Top Speed muffler

So I finished this installation and thought I would update with my findings.

Holy crap it is AWFUL. The sound could not be any worse. It's LOUD and RASPY starting from idle all the way to redline. Sound is similar to a straight piped Civic.

The car with no muffler (open Section 2) is about a 10 loudness.

With the exhaust, it's a 9.

At least with no muffler, the car sounded exotic, albeit loud. With the exhaust, it sounds like shite AND it's loud.

I have an AR20 on the way and will weld that in to see if it helps. But if not, this exhaust is going in the trash. I'm throwing my stock exhaust back on until the AR20 gets here because I'm embarrassed to drive the car like this in public.

The only good thing about this exhaust was that the fitment was very good, so there's that at least. Hopefully the AR20 will quiet it down.

Thanks for the review, I'm still deciding what to do about my stock exhaust. The only thing positive about your car is that even if it sounds like a *****, at least its fast. ;-) I've decided I'm going to start with a modified stock exhaust and if that doesn't work I'm using a dual-in dual-out Magnaflow.

A two minute google search on this muffler could have saved you a ton of time. Next time you decide to cut corners on your m3, consider looking up reviews and sound clips from members who have done the legwork for you.

I got it for a $100 on Craigslist and it took about 45 mins to install. Didn't really waste time or money.

"cut corners"

Lol! Get off your high horse, you know this is a rep of the more expensive systems.

Get headers and sound will change, any muffler with cats and US headers sounds like a Civic. Headers makes the car sound totally different

Yaas. I have the bimmerworld street exhaust on mine and it basically sounds like a subaru (lol). But paired with the correct headers like my buddy's and it sounds gnarly. Don't lose hope on the topspeed exhaust just yet

Will do. I'm hoping the AR20 changes the sound or at least quiets it down a bit. Do most headers sound the same? I'm probably going to get Euro headers just for the fitment ease.

Car is currently on jack stands, as I'm doing a little maintenance, but you're close by. If you want to PM me, we can meet up somewhere and you can hear it in person. A video probably would make this exhaust sound cooler than it does in real life lol!

Update for anyone that cares. Got my AR20 welded in today and WOW it dramatically changed the sound. Sounds really good now, and the volume went down noticeably. The exhaust, in my opinion, sounds great but is still a bit too loud for me so I'll probably get rid of it. I'll try and get some videos this weekend.

I want to keep it for a week or two just because it's kind of fun now that the loudness has toned down a bit and it sound really good now with the AR20 welded in. But I'll definitely PM you when I sell it!
