It is basically a ported enclosure.
Really depends on what type of music you listen to.
Ported = louder, boomier, less "lower" bass response, enhanced "upper" bass response.
Sealed = linear response (bass is equal at all frequencies), more tight, controlled bass.

If you just want loud bass, go with the JL box. If you want sound quality, go with sealed.

Thanx, very good and simple advice! I was just curious about the JL box and if this new design is better than a ported. Anyway I'm going for the JL Audio 12W6v2 sub.

Most likely, the new design is better than a plain old ported box, but it is essentially the same idea.
