Man. I thought I had this nailed, but seems the last hurdle is still in my way. I have a Jap import 318ci with engine and trans swap. Biggest issue is the keys are IR. Now I followed this thread (DIY: E46 Retrofit Infrared to Radio Frequency remote control) and swapped to RF. Got the keys cut and programmed. Will unlock manually and start the car fine.

But remote locking will not work and will not programme. So how do I go about trouble shooting this? Any way to test that the remote antenna works ?

Just as an update. Got it sorted. Went to a local locksmith and it is now working. Seems the seller on Ebay sold me a 315MHz key instead of the 433MHz I ordered as per their ad.

Loving being able to unlock and lock remotely without standing on top of the car.
