I thought I would try a little experimenting with different trims and options, and this is what I came up with. Thoughts, comments, suggestions are welcome.

OEM trim with black leather shift knob:

Isotta shift trim and high gloss black shift console trim:

It comes with a plastic piece that you sandwich the shift boot between. No drilling in the plastic at all, however you need to trim a bit off of the boot for it to fit properly.

The chrome ring was $20.00 on ebay, the high gloss black trim was $19.99 from my local BMW dealer.

What's the e-bay member's name? I've been trying to get one of those.
Thanks.

Okay. I received mine today. So you remove the leather boot from the plastic ring. Does the white plastic bezel actually replace the plastic ring that is attached to the leather boot?? If not I don't see how all three will fit and alloe the chrome ring to sit flat. Thanks so much,
Jeff

You have to remove the plastic ring on the OEM shift boot, then cut about 1/2" of the leather off so that it sits even with the white plastic ring and chrome ring.

I had to trim quite a bit of the white plastic ring so that it would fit perfectly in the Shift Console trim. It took some time to look at it all, and put the pieces together (since there were no instructions provided). I'm still not sure what the two set screws are for.
