I forgot who told me, but they said that the bmw navi unit is just the display, and the actually radio part of it is in the trunk. Now mu question is, instead of me getting an aftermarket headunit, can i just get somthing like the pioneer brain and replace it with the bmw in the trunk and keep the stock navi headunit? :dunno:

dont think it will work because the pioneer brain has a lot of funny outputs, nothing the nav screen can recognize. if it did work a lot of wiring is gonna be invovled, the pioneer brain has the speaker outputs on the unit.

This was somehting i was looking into, but i was considering replacing the tuner in the trunk with a pioneer dab version. But i think the pioneer units rely heavily on information that is sent from the head unit. The standard BMW units, wont be sending this information.

So i dont think its possible
