Is bmw trying to screw me or what?

I took my car in for service today, because I keep getting a trans fail code on my obc, they told me they did all the test with rpm's and were on the phone with bmw usa, and they told them that if I have an aftermarket sound system that it is sending the wrong signals to my I-bus and if I don't give them a reciept showing them that I had my stereo unhooked (sub and amp) that I would void my transmission warranty. does this sound right?

no. but they are validated if it's just a warning light coming on. if you actually have tranny issues, then the have no standing, but if it's electrical and you have stereo work, you're kind of S.O.L.
