My brother has a 2002 325ci and he's paying almost 8,000 a year for car insurance. I think that's ridiculous. The car is under my dads name and he has perfect credit and all and my brother is listed as an occasional driver. What is the best insurance to get in jersey?

it's like $80 per month for me here with $100 deductibles, I'm 23 with a perfect driving record. Maybe you need a friend in another state, and insure it there

I got the same problem as most in this thread.
I pay about $6000 a year on insurance with a $500 deductible.
I am 22 and have a '02 325i.
Only have 1 speeding ticket on record and I have great credit.
I've also been driving since I was 15 years old.
Now, I don't remember my insurance even being close to this when I drove a Honda Accord.
Not to mention, a friend of mine, has a 330i and younger than me, but pays way less for insurance.
I searched a lot of places too.
Progressive quoted me $5500 for a 6 month premium with $500 deductible. For a 325i? I don't think so...

Edit:
Not to mention... no at-fault/no-fault accidents on record either.

Sorry... NJ is the HIGHEST auto insurance state in the country..

Too many expense cars in a small state, and quite letigious people I guess..

Only way out is NJ Manufacturers, which is available if you are state employee or related to one..OR if you have a business that is registered and a member of the NJ Man Assoc..

I pay about $4,000 a year for a 2000 323i and a 2001 Lexus RX, but I am (WAY) over 25, married and both the wife and I have PRISTINE driving records..Both cars have full coverage, $500 ded, tort threshold, etc...

Now once my 12 year old starts to drive in a few years, I fully expect it to jump DRAMATICALLY... BUT, with fewer and fewer insurance companies left writing policies in NJ, there isn't much choice..

I stayed with State Farm, after getting prices from Geico, Allstate, and a bunch of others..

NOTE: You should check to make sure that you are getting ALL the discounts you are entitled to..Read the documents that come with the policy CAREFULLY..Make sure you are getting discounts for dual airbags, integrated alarm, etc.. Also, it pays to have your homeowners insurance, and any other lines (ie life) with the SAME insurer.. The discounts will add up and help, BUT you have to make sure you are getting ALL you are entitled to..

...I feel your pain....

i've got an assload of points on my licence for various speeding tixs and such. my insurance is only $7,700 :) so i convince my grandparents to sell me their 99 ford escort, my insurance is still $3,600 but its a lot better. i save $3,100 a year, and even if i "bought" the car a FMV of $4,000 i'd still be saving money. look into a beater. you save miles on your true love and have to walk a lot less when parking at the mall :)
