Hello all,

I found the time to get INPA installed with my OBD2 Australia cable. I can communcate with the engine and trans but nothing else and both the engine and trans have the cautionary message that the ECU and INPA versions don't match. The BimmerGeeks I downloaded has version 1.17 of the M43 file when selecting M54 engine in the menu.

Anyhow, anyone any idea how to get a hold of the version 2.0 of the M43 file and also any idea why INPA won't communicate with the airbag module? Well, communicate with anything other than the engine and auto box controller?

My airbag light is on due to removing the seats and having battery disconnected when I had to remove the interior for drying the flooded carpets. My research shows this is normal when the battery or seats have been removed and a fualt code needs resetting yet I can't get to the airbag module to reset the codes :(

Cheers

Which year and model E46?
Always important to mention that.

This post explains why pins 7 and 8 must be connected to access modules beyond DME and EGS.
What’s the cable switch for?

Uninstall the BimmerGeeks one and instead follow my guide. Pretty sure it supports M43.

Thanks for the reply. The Bimmergeeks works just fine so far it's just a version warning message because the MS43 file in the INPA folder is version 1.17 and the ECU is running V2.0. Still seems to read everything just fine.
Does your version of BMW standard tools have the latest version of IPO files. The version of INPA I have is 5.0.6.

My E46 is 2001 320Ci with M54B22 and ZF 5HP19 trans.

Ta :)

An SRS light won't be set so long as you disconnect the battery before disconnecting any airbag components, including the seat belt pre-tensioners attached to the seats.

Interesting compared to the info I'd found so far. Evrything was working fine after the footwells were flooded and only after putting it all back together that the airbag lights come on. Currently having INPA issues as Oz companies cable only uses pin 7 of OBD2 so cable can't communicate with anything other than the engine n trans
