although i have seen a million e46 cars with aftermarket headunits, i need to know what needs to be done so i can put an aftermarket head unit in my car.
here is the scenario:
i have a business cd in my car(2002 325Ci). my local shop said that if i take out the factory head unit and put an aftermarket one in, i will lose my ac/heat controls. i know that is not the case because like i said i have seen on this website a million cars with aftermarket head units. what needs to be done in order to retain my ac/heat controls???? my system is done with the exception of a headunit and i am buying an alpine one from my friend so i need to know. please respond and thank you in advance:D

It's pretty straight forward all you need is the correct harness, dash kit and antenna adaptor. No heater or ac wiring involved at all. If I was you I'd run away from that shop as fast as you can. It's a very basic and simple install about 30 min. max for any professional installer and that's retrieving all the tools and parts.
