Hi I could use some help I have a 2000 E46 Sedan I am trying to pass emissions test I only have one monitor that clears which is the o2 heater monitor that clears in just a few minutes.
I have tried the recommended BMW drive cycle too many times to count and still nothing. The only strange thing I have noticed is that the bank2 sensor2 o2 sensor reads .000 volts except upon a cold start after the o2 warms up it reads.000 but while it is cold it starts around .700v and steadily drops as the car reaches operating temp could be causing my issues?
Car runs smooth no check engine light either.

I went ahead and replaced all four o2 sensors did the drive cycle again now the o2 heater monitor, catalyst monitor have gone to ready status still needing evap monitor, o2 sensor monitor, SAP monitor, to become ready. I have also driven it almost 200 miles, how can I tell if my SAP pump is working or not im not sure if it will even activate i live in Texas so my cold starts aren't exactly cold.

Please help I cannot get the Secondary Air monitor to become ready for inspection here is everything I’ve done: I have bench tested the Air pump with 12v supply runs phenomenally replaced and tested the peirburg vacuum valve in the back of the the intake replaced all the vacuum hoses check the operation of the valve on the head. Replaced all four 02 Sensors pre and post cat. Ran the secondary air pump test using INPA with 90% score. Tested the salmon colored relay under the glove compartment it’s fine checked the 50amp fuse under the glove compartment it’s fine as well check the DME fuses under the hood all fine there. Even took the car to a euro car shop to do the DME reflash this is what they told me “ we could not reflash the car because all of our machines we hooked up to the car could not locate the vin, there is nothing we can do just sell it” Did the recommend drive cycle I don’t know how many time put upwards of 800 miles on the car just trying to get it to pass. Still nothing the pump does not come on for cold starts at all confirmed this by taking the hose off of the pump while someone started it note I did this after the car sat for a couple days and did it first thing in the morning when it was still cold. Am I screwed ? I bought this car back in April has no licenses plates and tags are out of date. It is a 2000 323i 2.5l manual trans.

What is this harness you speak of? what does it do?

Yes the hoses are connected correctly the coolant sensors and ambient air temp sensor at the time were all within range of each other at about 79F. I have three monitors not set I’m assuming the secondary air system is effecting all three it is secondary air system (not ready) 02 monitor (not ready) and evap (not ready)

Well I replaced all four 02s, also I temporarily wired up the pump and vacuum valve to a push button just to see what would happen I did that and my scanner gave me a pending code of P0130 and P0150 so they are reading lean when the pump is on. Also when I got the car back from the shop that tried the update my laptop is unable to communicate with car on inpa I don’t get the two black dots anymore. Maybe need to re install the software? Or is there a different software I can download I originally downloaded from bimmergeeks.com.

SO.... Slightly off topic I was driving my car the other night attempting another drive cycle i hit a huge jack rabbit, it broke my ambient air temp sensor completely off and the dash was reading -40. I replaced the sensor and its still reading -40 is there a recalibration sequence i need to do or something?

Most likely the COM port that Windows assigned to the cable changed and you did not edit the config file accordingly. See this post.
Hey Bali so i followed your install instructions to the -T made sure my com port settings are set to 1 and everything and i still don't get the any communication in INPA.

Have you fixed your ambient air temp sensor? As noted earlier, the SAP is supposed to come on with a cold start. The DME reads various sensors, including the ambient temp sensor to infer whether you're going through a cold start or not.
yeah that has been fixed I checked temp readings before starting coolant temp sensor, ambient air temp, and inlet air temp sensor all said 51 degrees.
