I would think the best way is to remove the cover.
Tschmale said:you will need to remove the valve cover and get it all out. The Question is why didn't you retrieve the oil fill cap from under the car? BMW supplies you with all the neccesary tools to do remove your scratch panel.
A quick lube place will not be able to help you with your problem. You need to take it to a real shop.Domm said:ok, ive given this a little more thought. like i said i am very tight with money right now, but i have a few resources that might help me out. i have my moms AAA card for a free tow, i have a chevron card that my dad thankfully lets me use and spee dee oil change takes chevron cards. im gonna go down there right now to see if they'll be able to help me with the problem

Los Gatos and M3 = $$$$$, so why are you pinched for cash?
Honestly, take it to a mechanic.
My guess is in the end they're gonna have to practically rebuild the engine to make sure no fibers or pieces of sock are stuck anywhere.AEsco48 said:bro, if the sock got jammed in any part of the valvetrain...its not going to be as simple as just cutting it free....im sure something is bent....and work on the valve train is very labor intensive and expensive....
