ISTA+ in the current download doesn't have the SDP for Programming.

What are you trying to achieve w/ ISTA/P?
Originally was just updating the DME and a couple other modules that needed updating. It Programmed the CAS but after had began programming the DME it had the voltage problem causing a communication error and had the fault. May have to take it to the dealer but want to see if the voltage problem occurs on updated ISTA/P software.

I believe ISTA/P requires a constant voltage of 14v. Soon as it gets below the voltage threshold it triggers that error.

Yes, i think it has a little tolerance but either way terminal 30 had a voltage of 14.5V nearly the whole time, it only dropped to 13.8V for a short duration until the power supply brought it back up. Would that cause terminal 15 to read 0V on Istap and fail to communicate? Just seems crazy it would be that sensitive.

From what I read, anything under 14v triggers that. So it really needs a constant 14v.

To clarify, anything under 14V shuts off terminal 15?/makes it so there is no longer communication?
I believe so, but don't quote me on that.

Hopefully, I'll be uploading revision to 4.32 today w/ new instructions.

Definitely need to be careful when using ISTA on E9x/newer cars with the notorious footwell module. During initial car ident/code scan the software runs test procedures at the end on all modules, which can cause the footwell module firmware to become corrupted and no longer respond. Happened to me last week after using the program a handful of times. ISTA is great but there's an inherent risk in using it unfortunately. BMW themselves are aware and it may be possible that some versions of ISTA are unstable when used. It's also recommended to have at least a 20 amp battery charger hooked up when using ISTA in general.

Situation
When performing ISTA/D diagnosis and/or a programming procedure (software update) on an affected vehicle, the Footwell Module (FRM) could fail (See Situation One and Two
below).

The Footwell Module (FRM) could also fail by itself (Primary failure - causual part), prior to performing ISTA/D diagnosis and/or a programming procedure (See Situation Three
below).

Cause
There is either a compatibility issue with certain combinations of vehicle software (Plant
Integration I-Level) and the Footwell Module hardware installed in the vehicle or the
module itself has failed.

Install Instructions: ISTA+ v4.32.15
Requirements
  1. Windows 10 v1903 or higher, 11 (32-bit or 64-bit)
-> Windows 7/8 is NOT supported!
  2. K+DCAN Cable (I recommend Pro K+DCAN Cable from BimmerGeek)
-> Amazon/eBay cables are hit or miss
  3. BMW Standard Tools MUST be installed, and working correctly!
-> How to Install BMW Standard Tools
  4. 150GBs or more availble space on your Hard Drive or SSD.
-> I have tested it w/ 140GB's, and it would throw an error.
  5. Minimum of 5GBs of Ram or More!

Step 1: Download File

After press next, and Install

Step 2: Enjoy ISTA+

Manual Install Instructions: Coming Soon

Notes

Install Location: It might be possible to install on a External SSD, however I have not tested it.

Can I Run This on a Mac or in a VM?

Yes! I have a 2015 MBP running Bootcamp (Windows 10) and I have never ran into issues. However, I am not sure if newer MacBook Pro's are compatible. It is a slight nightmare to setup if you are not too tech savy. I'd recommend sticking with a Windows 7, 8, 10, 11 laptop.

Troubleshooting
After installing, I can connect successfully via INPA but when loading with ISTA+ 4.32.15 I got the unlicense message "The regconized vehicle type is not licensed for the current dealer data."

Please advise if I miss any steps.

Which chassis are you trying to scan?

Also, do you have Standard Tools installed? INPA, etc?

Time to grab my laptop and test the installs. Agh, sorry if anyone else is having issues.

You shouldn't have to enter your IP Address.

Did you copy and paste the License into "License Renewal"

After you press okay, restart ISTA and you should be okay.

Is your version giving issues during installation? If anyone wants a problem free install of either ISTA p or d just DM me. I've got Google drive link.
I appreciate the help!

I am currently in the process of fixing the install, and checking every install on my laptop to test them.

Especially for the people that don't have E46Fanatic accounts, having a public link is easier with instructions on how to install the software.

Regardless, people will have issues and I am working on a trouble shooting guide as-well.

Im sorry that has happened to you.

There is always a risk when doing coding, programming on modules.

Figured out my problem, it is completely normal for terminal 15 to drop to 0v while it is programming, ista p still pops up a screen saying voltage warning and says to "terminate fuction", but you just have to ignore it. After letting it do its thing my car is all good now, ista p worked great.

Great Info! Once I complete ISTA/P DL and Instructions I'll add that in.
