Step 3: Move Rheingold folder
Move the folder to C:\EC-APPS
Note: You can place the folder as-well in C:\Program Files, or wherever you'd like. I personally like having it in EC-APPS because its easy to find.

Step 4: Create Shortcut
Create a shortcut for IstaGUI.
Location: Rheingold\TesterGUI\bin\Release

Move the shortcut to the desktop, or wherever you would like.

In this example, I decided to drag the shortcut to my Desktop.

Step 5: Launch ISTA

Once ISTA is launched, complete the setup.

Press - Next
Note: You don't have to enter anything in this screen

Press - Next
Copy and Paste the License Key into the empty box labeled licenses:

Press - Next
You do not have to enter anything in the ISIS.
-> SIMPLY press the X in the top right, and exit the program.

Lastly restart ISTA and head over to VCI Config.
(This can be accessed via pressing the Wrench ICON on the toolbar above.)

Select Edibas Default Settings (Edibas.ini)
-> This is used for E-Chassis (BMW) and R-Chassis (Mini)

Select Dealer Organization ICOM/ENET Local Area and ISIS Network
-> This is used for F/G - Chassis (BMW)
-> Tutorial: How to connect and use ENET

Step 1: Extract BMW folder into C: Drive

Once completed: Should look similar to this.

Step 2: Go into BMW Folder, then into ISTA-P Folder (C:\BMW\ISTA-P)
Install -> NetworkTool.exe (only required for K-DCAN)

Step 3: Install -> EDIABAS_7.3.0.exe [Located: (C:\BMW\ISTA-P)]

Press: Repair (This will make sure you are not missing any files)

Step 4: Launching ISTA-P Loader program
Launch BMW ISTA-P Loader.exe [Located: (C:\BMW\ISTA-P\ISTA P Loader)]
-> Id recommend to make a shortcut and placing it on the desktop for ease of access.

Next, choose the emulator starts for K-DCAN or ENET adapter. For ICOM, it is not necessary.

Since majority of us is using K+DCAN, press K+DCAN USB then press BMW Cars. ISTA/P will launch shortly after.

-> There is a installation guide if you have any issues as-well in the folder.

Troubleshooting Guide​

Error #1

The Database Installed is not complete. A repair installation must be carried out.
ISTA cannot be used without complete databases. The application will therfore be terminated.

Solution:
Step 1: Uninstall ISTA (and any files related to it)

I installed your ISTA-D 4.32.15 and it works, but unfortunately, like many others, no SSP's (wiring diagrams)

I was able to easily install according to directions above, but then I did have an error and ISTA wasn't able to connect to my E61

I needed to make a change to the ediabas.ini text file, and now it works perfectly

As for ISTA/P, Sorry for the delay! My last semester of University has been busy. I am hoping to have install instructions for ISTA/P around thanksgiving time!

FWIW, I was finally able to find time to test ISTA on my E90. Was able to connect to and scan the car but didn't do much more than that as I'm unfamiliar with the software. I have ISTA and BMW standard tools loaded on a 256gb SDD laptop running Windows 10 and after install I only have about 80 gigs free, works fine.

Im not entirely sure why 4.32.15 won't launch with less then 150GBs. The folder size is 76.5GBs. I had an earlier version of ISTA 4.05 if i recall, and it launched fine with less then 100GBs.

Im currently running BootCamp on my 2015 MacBook Pro, and I had originally had 100GB's reserved for my Windows side, and it wasn't enough to launch 4.32.15, so I added a bit more space at like 146GBs and it still wasn't enough to launch. I ended up getting a 1TB NVMe SSD, and now I have enough space for both my MacOS and Windows 10, and all my programs for diagnostics and coding.

Both ISTA/P, and ISTA+ have been reuploaded to my Google Drive. (I have updated both posts to reflect the change)

The ISTA/P link has been added, and I am currently in the works of adding the instructions to the post. There is install instructions in the ZIP, however I feel like they are a bit mediocre!

it seems that the download from dropbox gives up after 13.62GB, not sure what is going on. Also, I am unable to unzip the file in DropBox... Any insight?

Possibly might be an issue on your end?

• What message or error do you get when the download fails?
• What browser and operating system are you experiencing this on?
• Is your network stable?

The file keeps failing to download from Orangedox, I have steady connection. Kinda weird. Do you have a different link or a different file hosting site you use?

I replaced the Orangedox Link with the original Dropbox Link.

Let me know if that works. Only reason I used OrangeBox was to track analytics of downloads.

If it needs to be ill split the DL link into portions, and upload it so DL size is smaller.

Interesting, I downloaded the Dropbox link and was still having the same issue opening the .7z file. I tried to extract it without opening the file, just right clicking, and it worked! I have yet to get it on my laptop, but I will be trying it sometime tomorrow, along with some diagnosis testing. If any issues arise, I'll be sure to post a reply. Thank you for this helpful software!

When I'm using DCAN cable to run ista, the vehicle test takes lots of time, wonder if you guys experiencing this too? Will change to enet cable help?

That's a good question! Im not too sure.

It takes a bit of time to do vehicle test on my side as-well.

Hello, i tried to install ISTA+ on my windows 7 laptop. But the installer won't let me. It said my windows version isnt supported. My c drive has about 200gb free space. Any suggestion?

Edit: OP's guide mentioned win7. But it looks like ISTA+ will only run on windows 10.

Hello I ran into problem, I have K+DCAN that doesn't have switch on it. ISTA+ gives me error "The vehicle could not be identified successfully. Check vehicle interface and 'PAD actice'."
This cable works when I use INPA on my other laptop that runs windows 7. I guess the cable itself should be fine. So not sure what's wrong. Can you help me?

I already changed the line "Interface = STD:OBD" in EDIABAS.INI file. still not working..I also tried this setup on BMW E60 520i 2004. It doesn't work either.

Is your port in the EBIDAS.INI set as the same as the hardware?

Interface =STD:OBD
Simulation = 0

EcuPath =C:\EDIABAS\ECU
SimulationPath =C:\EDIABAS\SIM
TracePath =C:\EDIABAS\TRACE
TraceSize = 1024


Interface must be set to the above not ENE or any of the
other of the 3 possibilitys for Interfaces.

OBD.ini in the Windows directory must be set to the
same port as you use in device manager

As stated above, make sure your

PORT=Com1 (This is what mine is set too, but you can set it to whatever number you would like, but make sure this matches your cable settings in the device manager)
Hardware=OBD (Has to be set to this)
