Oh Goodness! My apologies ya'll.

@phlynch, @vaah

OBD.ini is located in C:\EDIABAS\Bin (If its not there, I'd make sure INPA is installed)

Looks something like this ->

This is what is in the obd.ini,

As stated above, make sure your

PORT=Com1 (This is what mine is set too, but you can set it to whatever number you would like, but make sure this matches your cable settings in the device manager)
Hardware=OBD (Has to be set to this)

I haven't tested if it works without INPA, truthfully. Its a super simple install, and worth it tbh to have it with ISTA.

As for cable

-> 2/2007 and older vehicles requires the pin 7 and 8 to be bridged to work and 3/2007 and later requires pin 7 and 8 to be separate.

So yes! Both pin 7&8 need to be bridged.

I have INPA installed on my old laptop that runs win7. I installed PA soft there too and a bunch other software that doesn't require win10. So I didn't think I'd need to install INPA on separate machine that I installed win10 to exclusively run ISTA+. hahaha

I'll install INPA and bridge that cable ASAP.

So I found out that you need to place obd.ini under c:\windows . I tried connecting ISTA to E60 2004 first . It successfully identified the vehicle info and pulled fault codes. INPA works too.

Then I move on to E46 2002, funnily problem still persists. ISTA wont connect to my e46 somehow.. INPA doesnt work too.

I'm really at lost. I bridged the pin 7 and 8. Any other idea @tbouchard991

This is the only place I have found a working download source, unfortunately I am running Win 7 on my computer and it obviously will not let me install it.

Do you know of a place where I could get a version that works on windows 7? Or somehow make it install into Win 7?

Have you tried manually installing it, instead of the auto installer?

I'll try and source a earlier version.

I haven't tried installing it manually. I just need to know how to do it and I would gladly give it a shot.

Edit:

Went to look at installing manually and there are virtually no instructions on how to install it manually. Along the lines of "If you don't know how to install manually use the installer, or consult the forums." lol, here I am consulting the forums now.

When I come back home tonight, I'll put together manual install instructions!

Thank you so much for this - it's the first time I've hade ISTA+ working (after trying for YEARS) and it worked straight away. I followed the instructions for installing BMW tools as well, and installed everything on an x64 Win 10 VM using vmware player (2 cpus, 4GB memory, 200GB storage) and a USB K+DCAN cable. It runs pretty slowly on a VM (4-5 mins to identity and check codes) so I'll play around with the performance settings of the VM to see if there's room for increasing that.

UPDATE

Both ISTA/P, and ISTA+ have been reuploaded to my Google Drive. (I have updated both posts to reflect the change)

The ISTA/P link has been added, and I am currently in the works of adding the instructions to the post. There is install instructions in the ZIP, however I feel like they are a bit mediocre!

Thank you for the support and patience!
First of all thanks for the uploads!
I'm trying to install ISTA-P right now. But unfortunately I'm not quite clear with the instructions. Can you help me?💐

I'm having troubles with Ista+. I installed it once but it would not communicate with the ECUs. I uninstalled and tried again. When I click on identify the vehicle it says something like "data must be reinitailisef. Restart ISTA and try again". Any ideas on a fix. Thanks

Mates ,
i'm having some problems in connection with my gf's F48..
I've downoladed ISTA+ and 100% followed the install guide, but none of the SW is able to obtain a connection with the car iva ENET cable.(D/P/Esys)

I already had all the SW for manage my e46 (Winkfp,Inpa,DIS,Coder32 etc etc) and these are working via K/D Can, so i didn't istalled the standard tools provided with the Torrent file,

i've noticed that after the ISTA install I have 1 ediabas folder in addition to the one used by the E46 part and the other one is the target one for ISTA.
as i dont' want to mess up things by modifying the COM previously assigned COM ports for KD Can cable
is it possible that the issue for ISTA is given by this additional Ediabas folder? or better, by the ediabas.ini settings in it?
or ENET is a thing and KDCAN is an other and settings are not influenced by this?

Ediabas.ini shows OBD connection mode, but into the new Ediabas folder (the one for ISTA) I also have an Ediabas configurator.exer that allows me to select the interface (thing that I don't have when I load any ISTA) but it refers to the other Ediabas\bin\ediabas.ini for setting (and thise lead me to this legitimate doubt)

I have not tested ENET yet.

However, I believe you can change the settings to hop back and forth if you click the (wrench/spanner) in the top right when ISTA is loaded.

Then it will show Interface Type:

Edibas Default Settings (edibas.ini) - This is what is currently selected

You'd want to select: Dealer Organization ICOM / ENET Local Area Network (For F-Series, etc)
