How do LED's produce light? I know how light bulbs work. Incandescent bulbs pass electricity through a filament which glows really bright. Xenon bulbs rely on passing a high voltage though a gas that lights up. But how in the world do these little plastic things called LED's produce light? Is there some kind of chemical or gas inside them? Someone please explain it to me. Thanks.
