Hey,

I own a 330CI 2001 and I am planing to get some work done on my hood as there is a lot of chips and one dent. The dent is pretty small but since I am to repaint the hood I want to fix it properly.

I will have the hood painted by a shop but I will do the body work with my brother and I was wondering if you would have any suggestions on what to use as far as filling material, sanding paper etc...

I may be totaly wrong by I heard that the hood is in aluminium, could you confirm that and if it is, any suggestion on the repair process?

if ur gonna pay to get it painted u should just let them do the body work as well. i can guarantee if u do the work they're gonna find somethin wrong and they're gonna redo it

ok... and just for my own information, is the hood really in aluminum? And if so, any tricks you recomand I pass on to the body shop?

I know you will tell me that they are the experts and they should know this and that but just in case.

test a magnet on your hood. if it sticks, its steel, if it doesnt, its aluminum. i dont know off the top of my head. for your reference, a magnet does not stick to my m3's hood, but it does stick to the fender. (i tried it out on the clear rock guard, so no scratches
