I'm a new member and I was hoping to get some feedback on selecting new wheels for my 99 328i. Any feedback, good or bad will be appreciated.

My criteria: 1999 328i without sport package

Having been the E30 route with HR springs and bilstein sport shocks, I really don't want to repeat that process with this car. About the most radical suspension change I would consider is stock sport package springs and shocks, but would prefer to leave it as is.

I want to go with 17" wheels. There are two options, 17 x 7 with 205-50-17 which would mimic the 330i standard wheels, or 17 x 8 and go with 225-45-17.

Finally appearance is important also.


Would I be better off with the 17 x 7 mimicking the 330i or go with the 17 x 8 and mimick the sport package.

My goal is sharper turn in, better grip and finally overall looks.

Maybe I should present this another way. Since I don't have the sport package suspension, and don't want to go that route, would the 17x7 with 205/55/17s be sufficient or will I gain any more bite and turn in authority if I go with 17x8 and 225/45/17s?

Anyone with similar experience care to share their opinions?
