Hey guys, went with painting the exterior trim of my 04 330ci zhp instead of the vinyl. Sanded lightly, 2 coats of primer, three coats of high heat matte black (rattle can), and I was going to put on two of clear. Two coats through on the black, and I got a small nick in the right trim. tried sanding it down and it still doesn't look good, even with extra coats on top of it. I'm not a terribly experienced painter but everything else looks pretty perfect. My question is what should I do? I was thinking of rubbing the area down with acetone and starting fresh, but will that come out uneven. Also the sand sponge I'm using is pretty fine, it really doesn't do much almost polishing the matte out of the paint. Let me know what you think.

No problem got it done, my explanation was pretty confusing.... basically the paint was smudged and not looking good. I wiped it down and started fresh, the shadow line trim now looks incredible.
