Hey guys,
I never even wanted to entertain owning a RWD car in Colorado. But it so happened that 3 months after I bought my Audi & lowered it i picked a up a grand cherokee for rediculously cheap. So now that i have a DD/Winter vehicle I am looking to purchase an M3.

I have done a good amount of searching already. I know that I want KW or H&R coilovers, Supersprint race muffler, Headers & Unsure about section 1 & 2 still. I have also read a great deal about the ESS tune.

Backround : 24 years old. Project Manager for developer/construction management firm. I have owned about 6 modified cars already. (2) audi's, 400 hp subaru, volkswagons ect....

I am looking for an E46 with 55,000 miles or less. My search will begin beginning of summer after I close on my first home. Wanted to say hello and that I will be following along with this forum

Here is the current Audi
2006 with only 24,000 miles. I have better pics (just not on my work comp)

Thanks for the compliments gents. I can't wait to have an inline 6 that revs to 8,000 RPMS..... oh that is going to make me soo happy. My Audi is a fantastic car, but just not fast enough to be a "weekend" car.

First, welcome:hi:

It's good that you are searching the forum for information before purchasing an ///M3. I would recommend you look in the M3 section of this fine forum as well as M3Forum.net. A few links to check out if you haven't already.....

Okay, I put up several good links for you to check out. Not that I'm trying to scare you from ///M3's, on the contrary, to be informed so you can plan necessary maintenance.

When I purchased my ///M3, I did not know as much about these awesome cars and am still learning from others on this forum as well as on M3Forum. As you can see, I have done some research and am always happy to share what I have learned. I'm no expert by any means but like to be informed so if I have to take my ///M3 in for maintenance then the mechanics will know that I, at least, understand what is going on.

All I can say is that in the two years that I have owned my ///M3, it's been absolutely fantastic! This car has presence and even though there will be some here that say that this car is begining to become dated, I still find myself looking at it whenever I park it in a parking lot when walking into my office. It's one of the most awesome cars that has come out of Germany...:4ngie:

I'm now over 127k and there's nothing wrong with my ///M:thumbsup: As long as you do required maintenance as well as plan some preventive maintenance you will have no problems with your ///M when you get it. Take your time when searching for "your" M and when you find it, enjoy it! GL and I look forward to hearing from you in the future:thumbsup:

BTW, you have a really clean Audi....too bad you can't keep this as well as get your ///M:4ngie::4ngie::4ngie:

^^ thank you for all of that, i know i still have some reading left to do.... I do not want to get an SMG from the maintnence and problems that i have read about when they reach higher miles.

i kept hearing about CDV, but had no idea what it was. I wish i could keep the Audi & the M3 as well, but at only 24.... (2) nice euro cars and a home are out of my reach haha

You're welcome:D The Audi is a nice car but if I had to choose between an Audi A4 and an M3 then that would be an easy choice for me....:D I'd obviously choose the M3. Now the RS-4 would be an awesome car to keep if you could have one :4ngie: Anyway, a house is always important and it's good that you have one so I can understand where you are coming from

Have owned at least 1 BMW at all times for the past 15 years. Currently have an E46 330ci coupe 5 speed that is just about stock.
I also came to own a well setup V8 S4 a couple of years ago and it will rip the underpants off my friend's E46 M3, especially in the twisties.
With PSS9s on the corners and Alcon 6 Pistons on 14" discs, it is fun to drive but not as nice as my 330 as a DD.
For a weekend car, I would not dismiss the S4 especially if you have the terrain to make use of AWD
