The rear ground for the rear light flickering or is it a shared ground for the headlights too? I bought an m3 with this issue I haven't picked it up yet. Owner is including a headlight assembly and ballast? The light was on when I looked at the car but he said it happens on occasion.
I had this issue and started thinking and researching all the costs and how difficult it would be to change the ballast and or what it might be, i put a used bulb in from my local indy specialist at there encouragment and low and behold thats all it was almost a year laster still going strong..
i sometimes forget to KISS.. do the simple things first
Appreciate the input guys. I will check the simple things like the bulb first then do the ground just for the sake of making sure its good. Im new to xenons and ballasts etc. How much are the bulbs themselves?
Ok I picked up my m3 today and it got dark while I was bringing it home. the right light flickers alot and over bumps it seems to flicker and go on/off. QUestion I have for you is I opened the back by the tail light and spliced into the brown wire before the connector that the tail light plugs into and grounded it to a bolt on the trunk. SHould I have grounded the wire on the tail light side of the connector harness?? I guess I can just splice into that tomorrow and run both new wires to a ground bolt (from the brown wire on both sides of the conector). Everything seemed much better but after a 10 minute ride it started to flicker just as I was getting home making me sad once again lol.
SO.. I will try another ground tomorrow. Other options are The previous owner gave me a whole new right side m3 headlight assembly, lens ballast and bulbs and housing.. the whole shebang. SHould I try changing the bulbs first? what is the ballast the silver box?
How hard to remove the headlights any links? thx guys I cant wait to sort out the flickering!
