Came across this while searching for more parts to replace. Part #11421719855V

DuPont Viton has a higher temperature and chemical resistance than the stock gasket material. This gasket should last the lifetime of the engine without breaking down and leaking.
Has anyone tried it out?

My oil filter housing gasket was replaced 10k miles ago, but I would have replaced it again while doing the pulleys if I had known this existed.

Next time I order something from Bavarian Auto, I'm going to include it. Thanks for posting about it.

This is nothing new. BMW updated the VCG material to Viton a few years ago.
Is there any proof of that? I'm not saying you're wrong, it's just that bits of info like this are thrown around a lot on forums without verification.

I've seen evidence of BMW moving up to ACM but likewise have not seen any meaningful info that they've made the move to Viton.

By "meaningful" I mean BMW documentation, or material stamping on the product itself :

Why on earth would anyone buy a part on eBay that you can purchase from a reputable supplier for the same price, or even less?
Plenty of OEM parts on eBay from reputable sellers with free shipping. ie. if I need an OEM oil or air filter, I don't wanna pay the same cost in shipping as the part.

So $27 shipped for the Viton OFHG vs. $7 for the OE BMW one.

Still, tempted to give this a try...especially when considering the extra stress on the OFHG from an OCC.

The OE BMW VCG was switched to Viton a few years back. The source on this is from Beisan Systems, so I trust it.

The OE BMW OFHG was not switched to Viton, AFAIK, and this Viton option from BavAuto looks to be aftermarket.

I work in parts at a BMW dealer. The new OFHG's are not Viton. We're one of the highest volume dealers in the state, and go through at least 100 a week due to them leaking on f30's. They're unfortunately the same material they've always been.

Lol nothing like repeating a mistake over and over. Almost like it is planned that way (I.e. Planned obsolescence)

For sure they wouldn't do that! Right?

because a small part like this alone the shipping would be just as much

plenty of parts i don't buy on ebay , this isn't one

Good find. Keep us posted on how well it works out. Would also be interested if you compared it to an OEM OFHG.

The link to Rajaie's claim that the BMW valve cover gasket switched to Viton.

On a side note: as much as BavAuto has been good to the BMW community I really hate their website and it hasn't changed in many years.

The valve cover gasket is not Viton. I contacted FCP, then my wife emailed with them and, long story short, the VCG is made from ACM. The Genuine BMW gasket and the Miestersatz gasket are both ACM. Meistersatz is the OEM gasket.
