Suggest look at Realoem and work out the partd needed to be replaced.

If it is the main gasket, item 36, they are very expensive. At least £500 at a guess. Unless a generic gasket can be used.

Thanks. I have already bought the ones I need.

I went to see Cayman Autos, I wasn't impressed. Trying to charge me for a water test when it wasn't needed, they said they only did repairs.

Might end up having to do it myself.

The lower gasket 54218228913 (Item 33 on the diagram) is pretty straightforward where most auto shops could handle swapping this over.

But if you're also replacing the window seal gasket 54218229841 (item 36 in the diagram), I would do it yourself unless you are 100% confident in the shop you're working with. It's a pretty involved process and a lot of the other parts of the hard top will need to be removed first to replace the gasket. Most of the interior parts are no longer available to purchase separately, so you really don't want to damage any of those parts during removal.

The gasket (36) is sandwiched between the main body of the roof and side molding trim pieces (item 26) and there are seven nuts that need to be removed each side to release the moldings. To access those nuts you need to completely remove the headliner panel (11) and to do that, you first need to first remove the front latches (1), grab handles (8), coat hooks (15), interior lights (13), C pillar trims (12), and rear lower headliner trim cover (34).

The coat hooks are particularly tricky to remove without damaging the headliner, and using a small pick to press in the clips that are part of the outer barrel of the coat hook assembly will help with getting it to release.

I've disassembled a hard top from salvage car to scavenge some of the parts, and the BMW TIS workshop manual was helpful. I've saved out the related steps in PDF's below.

Thank You.

I am in the process of getting a Vert with hardtop - original to the car. I’m guessing that the biggest issue is the gasket to header up front being compressed the most. The sides should not see as much wear. Correct?
