I've been trying to diagnose oil consumption in my car. Replaced Oil filter housing gasket, oil pan gasket, VCG, and Using OEM Castrol oil with Mann filter and O-ring. I don't see any oil leaking out of anywhere and don't see smoke from the exhaust either. I watched a video that states that it's possible for bad fuel injectors to cause oil consumption? Is that possible? :hmm: I've been consuming about 1/4 of a quart every 200-300 miles.

maybe its just burning oil. I mean how many miles on the engine?
mine burns about a quart ish every 3000 miles at 130k miles.

Jason, I thought that too. Its at 110K. Mine at one point did 1Qt in a week, during the winter. I could live with consuming 1Qt every 1000 miles or so. But at the rate its going, I'm afraid of taking it for long drives and having metal on metal.

if you warm up the car alot, its gonna burn faster.
also I dont know how frequently you red line your engine.

You seem to have replaced everything except the component that is engineered to burn oil and oil vapors. It is the CCV. Unless you have excessive internal engine wear such as worn piston rings or valve guides,cleaning the intake manifold and replacing the complete CCV system will help. GL.

I've already replaced the CCV with the cold weather version. I've also had a compression test done and it came back with perfect results. The test showed all cylinders were at zero, meaning not too lean or too rich. The indy mechanic also said that it would indicate that the valves were in ok condition and not burnt.

I would guess ccv. I have 135k on my car and it burns less than a 1/2 quart if any in 5000 miles. The ccv was replaced around 100k miles.

Do a compression and leak down test to check sealing integrity.
Leaky injector causing the oil consumption is a quite a stretch to me. I am guessing very small leak will evaporate before it reaches down to cylinder ring. If leak is that much you probably have a hard start in the morning. You can connecte a fuel pressure gauge and leave it overnight to see how much it loose the pressure, but there are other leak points in the fuel system, so you probably need to isolate the fuel rail if you see any drop in fuel pressure.

Very interesting video. I had good starts after a few minutes, slo starts after 45 minutes with a smell of gas, and good starts after hours or more. I suspected at least one leaky injector so I replaced all of them. Problem completely cured.
So now I know if I had let them go longer, it might have had other consequences.
My experience confirms that the gas that leaks from injectors will eventually evaporate and not give flood start conditions. Whether is actually did wash down into the cylinders thru closed valves is unknown. Some fuel probably just sat in the manifold until it evaporated.
