bump

 

I've got somewhat of the same problem...once I get to half tank...car acts like it's on empty. I'm told and my research points to sender unit...just been too lazy and have to also replace a expansion tank on another of my BMWs. to remove the rear seat and all to bring that gremlin to rest...car drives fine just cant go past half tank. Nevertheless I've got to go in...just not in the mood for it lately.

Hi Getty150, thank you for that....I thought it would be the sender unit but it doesnt make sense as the menu 19.6 tells me that it is ready the Litres right(total of 56 litres when filled to the max)..... maybe its just taking it out and cleaning the connections? or maybe its an electrical fault somewhere.....

let me know if you can find the part no for just the sender unit, i can find the fuel pump on the left hand side, but the part on the right hand side (fuel sender unit) seems harder to come by.....

Its such a bizarre problem, not quite sure where to start spending money and time

My e83 200k had been plagued with this problem for the last year. And at the time I had just replaced pump and fuel filter.

04 X3 full all the time

Finally, two days ago I had built up enough tolerance to accept a headache...and I went into the fuel tank. Each side all connections were solid! Left and Right. Except for...the smaller black flex tube inside the fuel pump bucket (e83). One end had disconnected. See if I can find a pic...I don't know the name of this flex tube.

Here are the recommendations I got when I first posted my concerns about the issue....

Driveability A1 except!

Drives like a champ...except when the fuel guage needle hits a little under half mark then the nightmare starts. If I hit the speed of 50 to 60 she shudders acceleration. Engine slightly bucks (not smooth) No amber light for low fuel Engine has stalled out at times when this happens...I start...
