Frustrated: Remote Car Door Opener

1379 Views 7 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  TerraPhantm
Hello. I have a 2003 M3 convertible. Beautiful. My remote door opener/locker only works in deep garages where there are no other signals and then from only 15 feet. Out on the street it is useless. I can hold it at the driver's window or over the windsheild and it will fail to open the doors. Dealers say it is a 'factory' defect and cannot fix it. And say it is useless to get a new key. Needless to say this is frustrating the hell out of me. Is there any one to get it to work. Help! Ed

I think if you search, there is a way to increase the range
Any idea where to go to get information on increasing the distance.
Hold the key to your chin and press the button.

Or try to resynchronize it with the car.

it works but i'm not a fan of the brain antenna. :tsk:
Remind me how to resynchronize. I have done it. I don't think it changes the situation but willing to try.
I know the convertibles have their antenna in the rear view mirror... do you have a tint or something that could be limiting the range?
