I just put my deposit on the Dinan suspension , exhaust, and front strut tower brace. Parts should be in about a week. I'm scheduled to drop the car off on 4/15. I'm pumped to finally get my 330xi lowered to some degree. I didn't intend to get the Dinan exhaust and front tower brace, but I said what the heck. I did want a little louder exhaust note and the front tower brace was the last 2 points needed for the Dinan badge for 10 points, so I did it. I'm pretty content with the power of the car and I felt the suspension modifying was the only real thing needing tweaking. I went with the Stage 1. If the exhaust looks and sounds better I'll be happy with that and any Hp change is icing on the cake. the frnt strut tower brace should look nice and also add to a tighter handling car. I also will be ordering some wider rims BBS RX 17x8 and wider rubber 235/45/17 Sumitomo HTR+ ultra high perf tires which should do much better than the thin stock 17x7 205/50/17 Contis. Boy.........that should just about blow the entire tax refund:eek:) I'll post pics, but gotta borrow me a digital camera!!

Congrats!! What stg Dinan suspension are you getting?? I was in the similar situation. I only wanted the CAI and software done then ended up getting all the performance upgrades but the dealer didn't have any Dinan badge in stock. They are shipping it from Cali. My car certainly feels faster afterward and you will definietly love the exhaust!!!! Tell me how the suspension feels when you get it.

THe Dinan suspension stage 1 is not cheap at all...

I was planning to get that...but after talking to my dealer.....
they say it will cost 1085US and 7.5hrs of work...(thats another $500US) the total comes to around 1600US plus i have to pay tax on top of that in Canada...thats 14.5%

u know what....i really think it is too expensive ...i would rather go for H&R coilover.....

The HTR+ tires will handle worse than the Contis. Pick something else if you're looking for cornering. I like mine as a winter tire compromise... But they have NO sidewalls.

(As a sidenote, it's fairly easy to bend a rim with the HTR+ mounted.)

If you're doing all that work in search of performance, look elsewhere for tires. The HTR+ are a good value, but they are NOT at ALL performance tires. They are great touring tires, and they do well in snow, but they have downright mediocre cornering characteristics. Consider the Bridgestone Potenza RE950s if you insist on mounting all seasons.

I would recommend Bridgestone S-02 Pole Position (yes, the S-02, not the newer S-03) - they are available in 235/45-17 and you will find that these tires are extremly good on your newly lowered car :)
The one warning is that the S-02PP, although they have better dry grip than the S-03s, they have worse wet grip and VERY short lifespans.

Damn, i'm jealous. How much did everything ring you up for?

You know the Xi crowd is going to be waiting for a write up about your experiences with the Dinan suspension. Can't wait.

Hey,
Someone told me at BMW I couln't get anything wider than a 205 tire with the xi because it would rub the inside when turning or interfere with the front AWD components. Is that true?

If I were to get a summer tire (live in Chicago) and use the standard Goodyear M+S tire in the winter, what tire/size would you recommend for a good cornering tire?

I recommend 235/40 on a 17x8" rim. I would be running that now, except that I bought my S-03s before I bought my rims.

205/50 or 215/45 are good sizes for a 17x7 rim.
