Anybody had to replace a key? Is my only option to pay the dealer the $109 fee (E46 key w/ integrated remote)? I know they are cut in Germany, have the chip, etc. Do different dealers charge different rates?

Any help is appreciated.

Bob, I am talking about the master key, the one with the remote...it's $119 to replace it.

Don't let your dealer rip you off by charging $300+ for a key. That's ridiculous!

why do you want the wallet key

Why would you want the wallet key for 300 bucks if the main key opens everything with the remote and the key?

errr, the key with the remotes and buttons on it opens every thing. If that key cost approx 100, why would u spend an extra 200 just for smaller key with no remote? :dunno:

yes thats the key i mean (wallet key)

before i got the m3 i was leasing a lexus. and i lost my wallet with
their wallet key. i had to buy it because when i return the car they wanted all the keys.

so i was not thinking but if you lease or buy when you sell the car
the next owner would want the wallet key to. i would think that.
that why i said that i remember i had to get one for my last car lolllllllll

The breakdown:
1. remote key.......$119 there cut in Ten
2. valet key ..........$30.00

I don't a key cost 300 bucks unless u drive a new 7 series
