Hi all,

I'm considering buying a an e46 m3 SMG vert with 102k miles. The car has six previous owners. Carbon black on cinnamon with a black top.

Current owner put a fair bit of work into it, all done by a reputable indie shop. Major repair/replacements include the cooling system as well as a clutch and slave cylinder replacement (new clutch has 100 miles on it).

There are a few superficial issues on the exterior (scratches, a minor dent) and the interior could use a bit of love (driver's seat has a tear, center armrest and rear armrests are in some trouble).

Car is in NY and has most likely been exposed to a few winters. I'll be getting a PPI done to check for major issues, but would like to narrow in on the final price (and if I want it) before then.

Owner's ask is way above KBB, I think he wants to be compensated for the work and cash he's invested in the car.

Any pointers?

Best,
Doug

Asking $18k which I won't come close to.

Gave it a test drive today and found a few more issues. Power steering is out, Driver's seat is broken (won't move forward back), left side convertible arm cover is missing, interior definitely needs general work.

Transmission work he had done was great -- shifts are fantastic.
