I picked up an M Sport steering wheel at the yard today off a 2011 550i F10. I figured I could sell on eBay for a nice profit. But as I was cleaning it up, I’m wondering if anyone has swapped a later model steering wheel like this to an E46?

I'd take a ZHP/M3 wheel over that one... If we're talking retrofitting later wheels, the F30 sport wheel would be my pick:

Nice idea, however the BUS is NOT there to support all of the functions that particular wheel has.
The BUS isn't there, but could some cutting/splicing map the volume toggle & cruise buttons at least?

Even if you could, I wouldn't:

1) That steering wheel looks tired

2) It's not even a nice steering wheel. The 3-spoke from the sport package looks 400x better. Scratch that.. 800x better.

3) Aside from cost, airbags are highly tuned highly timed for the specific vehicle and I wouldn't trust an airbag on a bigger vehicle in a smaller car.

This is all assuming you could get everything talking to eachother.
