Wow good result and tips? Did you do anything diffrent?

Just buy the kit at autozone; turtlewax: comes with 4 mini sanding pads. you use the lubricating spray as you sand fron #1 to #4; then apply polishing compound, smear it on the lense and polish it with a polishing pad, wipe clean. If you like the results apply the sealant wipe and allow to dry for 24hours, if youre not happy repeat sanding from #1 to #4. I did everything twice! Not hard, but the results are worth it.

 

TurtleWax ftw! Never buy anything different to clean Crystal.

 

i restored my headlights and foglights as well with "new looking" results just using 400, 1000 and 2000 grit sand paper and Meguiars PlastX on a buffer pad to buff them out to a beautiful shine. Also eliminated all the stone chips.

 

^see I would be all for doing this much work but when you can buy a new pair of headlight lenses for just $70, I'll buy a new set.

 

$9 to do lenses and fogs! Not bad!

 

only took me an hour and half to do all mine and saved 70 bucks...well worth it.

I tried the Turtle Wax kit and it looked OK for a while but faded eventually, I then did it with the 3M kit and it looks good still, so.......

They all basically work the same, your paying for the brandname.

 

greenskycity, you like power tools, however, you have to keep in mind that sanding should be vertical or horizontal or you will get swirl marks. not good. has to be done by hand, the polishing can be done with a powertool.

 

I looked around a bit a didn't find any place that sells replacement lenses for 2004 and up coupes. Anybody know?

 

That's awesome! I was thinking of doing the same for mine. Unfortunately, the ZHP uses glass fogs. At $100 a pop, they aren't cheap. I was thinking of doing this idea:

The results are impressive.

 

I think my fogs were glass as well. Actually the system worked better on the fogs than on the lenses.

 

If your headlight lenses are replaceable- just replace them.

These kits remove the factory UV coating- so the headlights will yellow over time. You don't have to take my word for it though- in a few months you'll see it first hand.

 

If they are clouding and have rock chips in them then the clear coat is already failing...it's worth use this kit once a year versus buying new ones. just my 2cents.

 

the fog lights are easier to redo than the headlights, they dont have as thick of a layer if any at at all of the UV coating, i redid all mine and the headlight ones i had to go down to 220 grit wet sanding to get the UV coating to eliminate all the stone chips then work up to 320, 400, 800, 1000, 1500, 2000 and 2500 then polish and reseal.... but they all look brand new for like 10 bucks. the last e46 i did this too they never turned yellow after 2 years they were still perfect, you just have to make sure to apply a layer of wax twice a year.

I am very impressed. The kit is very complete, with four different grits of paper. I actually pulled my lens off and cleaned the reflector too!!!! Just be careful to not scratch the reflector, as it's rather delicate.

Just ordered! Turtle wax $9 kit Woot!

 

Just used this kit on my headlights to little or no effect...i guess mine weren't that faded just alot of rock chips.

however i used this on other cars lights with great effect.

Maybe I'm not sanding enough or need something stronger?? (probably need something more than elbow grease and a nice buffer wheel)

it definitely started taking the UV coating off (im assuming its the UV coating)

ah well i think ill order new lenses when im done modding the headlights.

Fog lights are glass so no

 

My coupe's fog light lense looks just like Bm-Man's. Why won't it work? I don't think my lense is glass, but I'm not positive.

 

yours isn't as pitted as mine were so it will probably work

 

I gotta disagree with Sanchjer. I chuckled a bit when the clerk at the car parts place suggested the Turtle Wax product, the the customer next to me said he had real good results with it, so I tried it on a 2002 Acura that I had at the time. I'll give it a 95 out of 100. Not perfect, but real good results

 

So today I started me fog light diy restore starting with a 220 grit sponge the to 400 grit paper then to 800 grit sponge then 1000 grit sponge then hit them with plastix and a polishing pad on my drill from meguiers I believe the whole process took me about 30 mins per side including un and re-install I think and cost me about four bucks also doing my head light

 

Works great on the plastic lenses!

I ended up buying new headlight lenses from khoalty. Holding up well. And look sexy.

Also I bought some new aftermarket fog lights which have plastics lenses which work as well as oem. The oem fog lights for the mtech bumper are glass so there is nothing you can do but buy new ones.
