Thought Id go over to Ireland from the UK by ferry for a few days. Just got back with both front windows not working :bawling: . It was a nice warm day thought Id lower the drivers side window. went down fine as i raised it there were two loud clunking/cracking noises and it jammed 5cm short of closing. wouldnt go up or down. kept making the same nasty noise every time I tried it bout wouldnt go any where. Eventually got my friend to grab windows both sides as i pressed raise button. That managed to seal it.

And you can guess what happens 2 days later? yup the passenger side does the same as well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. :werd: :bawling: :bawling:

any ideas any one on what to do please to rectify the fault??

Hi,

I had exactly the same problem with the drivers window on my E46. Found the following website:

http://www.skene.org/bmw/window/

Took a print out to my local garage and they managed to sort the window as per the instructions without the need for any new parts, just got charged 1 hours labour. Apparently, it's a known problem on the E46.

Hope it helps.
Ant.
