are there any AFTERMARKET mirrors that FOLD or "break-away?"

(so that if they get hit, they don't completely break off?)

yeah, there are aftermarket blinking mirrors for e46 on eBay all the time.

Personally, I'd rather get an OEM e46 M mirror or ACS.
Blinking mirrors seems kinda cheesy.
