Guys,
I can't figure this one out. I recently bought a 2000 323ci convertable as a non running project car. I swapped a transmission into it and and have been putting everything back together since then (including a lot of electrical).

Anyways, it is basically all together now but I can not figure out why she wont crank. It will crank if I wire the starter motor directly. It seems like the signal is not getting the the starter. Also, the convertable top is not getting power and therefore is stuck somewhere between open and closed (but will not fully go into either home positions). Not sure if the two are related. The trunk will also not "pop" when I push the button.

My suspicians are:

-The key as it was completely dead and may need reprogramming
-The computer needing to be reflashed
- A bad ground
- Improperly connected electrical plug or wires (at the starter motor or transmission possibly??)

Any ideas?

If you close the top manually the module will need to be reset. Keep looking around for other top issues. the motor is in the trunk pretty sure it's on the right.
