it's not an m3 steering wheel, it's just a regl wheel with the m3 trim at the bottom.

And as for the original question...it most likely will bolt on but the airbag may malfunction because the new E46's, I believe 2000+ come with dual stage airbags which the previous BMW's including E36's did not have...
