Anybody know how to pair bluetoo? an E46 M3 2002 with original BW Bluetooth installed.

From memory, you hold the "Call" button down, the you switch ignition on, but dont start the car. However, does it work from the 'Call" button on the steering wheel..? I think it only works from the cradle "call" button...

Any thoughts..?:bump::bump::bump::bump::bump:

assuming you have the bluetooth already factory installed:

turn the ignition on to the #2 position so that the car is on, but the engine is not. Search for bluetooth devices on your phone, and it should find your car. Then input the BMW Bluetooth PIN code into the phone, and your car should pick it up. To make calls you can use the steering wheel buttons and to search your address book.

I am also assuming you know what your BMW Bluetooth PIN code is. If you don't know, check one of the owners manuals. If not in there, you will have to go into the trunk, on the left side wall above where the DVD navigation or cd changer is, the Bluethooth TCU is there as well. You will have to remove some of the trunk carpeting to get at it, but the PIN code is a sticker on the bluetooth TCU.

thats how i remember it.

that doesnt work - you need to set the car to pairing mode by holding the 'call' button down. Just turning the ignition to the #2 position doesnt put it in pairing mode

Before a build date which I don't recall, you need to hold down the eject box phone button as you turn the ignition on to put it into pairing/ discovery mode. Steering wheel button doesn't do it. Mine's an '02 and I need to use the button.

JOHNM You are correct. However my "eject Box" as you call it, got washed away in the Brisbane floods. :(

Is that the only way to pair? I think it is.. :(

Eject box is what the manufacturer calls it... I don't think you've got any choice other than to replace it or make the car think the switch is still there. I don't remember if there's any electronics in the eb associated with the switch or if it's straight through. If it's just straight through you can probably bodgy it. Have a look at the WDS http://spaghetticoder.org/bmw/. I haven't got time the moment but I'm in and out of airport lounges all day tomorrow, I'll have a look then if you can't decipher it.

E46 2005 M3 Instructions say

Turn ignition to 0, Hold the Call button above the storage console, Turn ignition to position 1, Continue to hold for 3 seconds. Release call button.

The screen should now say "Read or Pairing" or some such.

Just did this. Thanks for the post, even if its years old lol. Pin was on sticker on drivers side trunk above the closed cd storage compartment after pulling back the carpet. Pulled the carpet back and the code is the numbers after the "PK:" on the sticker with the build date and multiple other numbers along with a barcode.

Purchase the pa soft 1.4 scan tool. Set it up on an XP laptop,and Bluetooth options can be very easily worked with,clearing old phones,showing passkey,and enabling the pairing mode. It will be the best $32 you ever spent.

I was having problems synching my iPhone until I saw this post. It never occurred to me to try using PA Soft to clear the old phones and then enable pairing mode from there! I did just that and got my phone paired....thanks for the post! :thumbsup:
